Sorcery
Raising Ghosts / Spirits- A form of
Taoist Sorcery?
Santau – The
use of
Poison as a form of Sorcery
Sorcery
There are certain practitioners that deviate from the original teaching. These are the ones that follow the “Tao of the Left”, “Left Handed Paths” or “Side Doors” teachings. They practice sorcery that is extremely fierce. Some of them have great spiritual powers. They can cause the victim to be insane and even death!
Sorcery comes in many different forms it may be elements such as air, earth, wind and fire combined. They may even use spirits of the deceased to do their bidding, words and sounds (mantra) formulated into certain vibrations to effect a physical change in others, the earth’s meridian, astrological constellations, natural energies, guardians, spirits and beings that inhabits the mountain, forest, or even a lake. Whether it’s white or black magic depends on the motivation of the practitioners. It is usually used to fulfill some wish quickly that is impossible to accomplish by normal means.
Sorcery had been practiced throughout the world since the beginning, way longer than we can anticipate.
From the point of view of Christianity, magic is often used as a pejorative term for Pagan rituals, with the implication that they involve sinful, blasphemous or idolatrous practices.
Among occultists, magic is a fairly neutral term which has some varied connotations, such as white magic and black magic. The famous occultist Aleister Crowley coined the spelling magick to distinguish "the true science of the Magi"
For years I had researched and found that black magic and sorcery practiced throughout the world share similar rituals, even though they are practiced in different part of the continents. I believe it is from the same sources that had revealed to them regardless of creed, languages and ethnic group.
For instances the voodoo doll sorcery share a similar ritual. An effigy made of straw or other materials are fashion as a representation of the victim, hair, nails or any belongings of the victim are also attached to the doll and most significantly a soul invocation mantra is recited to summon the intended victim soul to be attached to the doll. Needles or pins are then stuck to the doll to inflict harm on the victim. Sorcerer with strong psychic power or spiritual powers can cast this spell and even kill an intended victim living in another part of the continent!
In South East Asia sorcery is rampant. There are numerous types of sorcery practiced, especially love spell or infatuation spell, sorcery to ruin a rival business, sorcery to cause death, insanity, separation, and even to cause a victim impotent!
In Indonesia a renowned type of poison called “Santau” is feared by the community there. Any victims that happen to consume such poison suffer an impending death within three months or even a shorter lifespan depending on the toxicity of the poison. This type of poison is most lethal as it is odorless and colorless, it can just blend and dissolve into any food or drinks without causing any suspicion when the intended victim consumed it. The victim internal organs are gradually damaged by the poison as it also contains arsenic, victims tend to cough profusely. The reason is because one of the key ingredient comprise of small particles of shaven bamboo shoots that can cause irritation to the throat.
Can you imagine these small particles get lodged on the throat it would cause infection to the esophagus. The victims shall have several symptoms such as coughing and expelling phlegm together with blood, gradually losing weight, indigestion and insomnia. If left untreated the condition shall worsen and caused death.

Raising Ghosts / Spirits - A form of Taoist Sorcery?

Talisman to seal Miniature Coffin A Chinese Miniature Coffin
Among our ancestors, there were many who
could command ghosts and spirits, but today few are able to do
so and those who can are looked upon as weird. Not many people
cultivate these dharmas or believe it. Therefore nowadays not
many can command ghosts.
If you can command ghost and spirits, you can
order him to do your work. You can summon a ghost to help you
gain fame, wealth, success, prevent obstacles, defeat your
enemies, protect your household from intrusion and protection.

Baby Spirits Idol "Guman Thong"
Baby Spirits Oil
In Thailand its a very common to see numerous
business establishment having an idol of a child called Guman
Thong, it is widely worshipped it seems like a cult. The idol is
created in the form of a lovely young child, named Guman Thong
but it's really a ghost!
Khun Paen is a legendary
figure (1491-1529); he was born in
Suphanburi Province (some 70 km.
northwest of Bangkok) but grew up in the close bordered
Kanchanaburi Province. Khun Paen was the first who created
Guman Thong. He brought the dead baby from the womb of the dead
Bua Klee, one of his wives, to the Temple outer area within the
chanting hall where the Buddha image is placed. The Temple and
its outer area are so sacred place that no mighty ghosts or
spirits can enter. Based on the legend descriptions, Khun Paen
was chanting some sacred mantras to invoke the spirit of Guman
Thong while roasting the dead baby on the fire.
Creating Guman Thong in
the ancient time can be terrifying. The practitioners had to go
to the cemetery alone in the night, dig up the corpse, cut the
corpse's abdomen removing the dead baby out, and then proceed
directly to the nearest temple outer area for the roasting
processes. That's the safe place to protect the ghost mother
from trying to bring her baby back. So only the strong-mind
person who possesses the advanced magical knowledge to subdue
the ghost may do this.
Bear in mind that Guman Thong is actually a dead infant. But it
is now created in the form of a young child with various
materials, such as wood, bronze, ivory tusk, plaster, and
various materials. The main purpose of creating Guman Thong in
the ancient time is for protecting the owner. The young child
ghost could be activated with mantra to fight the owner's
enemies or to protect the owner's treasures. Almost all the
present-era Guman Thongs have been created for wealth
and for
fortune purposes.
Worshipping Guman Thong needs consistent practice. He will be a
great fortune bringer. Some compassionate practitioners invoke
the souls of aborted foetus to liberate them. The souls of
aborted foetuses are in great suffering, they
are lost earth bound ghosts. These practitioners chant a
specific mantra to invoke and summon their souls to their altar
where an idol of a child is placed. The soul of the aborted
foetus actually resides in the idol. Offerings are made daily
includes milk, toys, sweets and other edible foods. By offering
these aborted foetuses a place to reside and with daily
recitation of mantra’s the practitioners transfer their merits
to these souls and pray that they are liberated.
A special relationship
tends to develop over time. Usually after a certain time more
foetus soul will descend to the altar automatically as there is
food offering, toys and companions of other foetus souls. An
altar may house up to several hundreds of these aborted foetus
souls. Practitioners with the third eye may see them.
Some practitioners of the
Secret school have the ability of commanding ghosts and spirits.
They need to use a miniature Chinese coffin to store a piece of
bone from any part of the corpse buried in an unprotected grave.
A ritual is performed in the cemetery to invoke and attached any
wondering spirits within the cemetery compound. Once the ritual
is completed the miniature coffin is brought back to the
practitioners altar for forty nine days several drops of blood
from the practitioners right hand ring finger, is fed to the
piece of bone. The practitioners had to feed the bone with blood
once a week after the forty nine days ritual. A mantra is also
recited to bind the ghost should it disobey commands. A
specific talisman is usually stuck outside the miniature coffin
to prevent the ghost from wandering.
The bone must come from a deserted grave and
had to be removed surreptitiously and, although it is a form of
cultivation, there is still a certain amount of “unauthorised
removal of bones”. It’s quite unethical to practice such
ritual, as the poor ghost needs to obey all commands issued by
the practitioners. Most practitioners
used this cultivation to gain wealth, some for fame and others
for relationship. I am aware of celebrity in Asia that
cultivates this dharma to enhance his fame, for several years
consistently he was nominated the best artist.
The ritual needs to be consistent, otherwise
the ghost will become unreasonable and angry if no blood offering
is presented once a week. A similar potent cultivation, some
practitioners use is the baby spirits oil. It also requires the
consumption of blood from the practitioner right hand ring finger.
The bottle contains a small wood carving of a baby spirits, one in
black and one in white. It is soaked in special oil extracted from
trees and other various types of herbs. The baby spirits soul
resides in this bottle, which is also kept inside the miniature
Chinese coffin.
Whereas in Indonesia they also have
the practice of raising ghosts or spirits called "Batara Karang"
literally translated the word "Batara" is deity, "Karang" is
fossilized coral. It is believed to be the fossilized, shrunken
mummy of a Shaman who practiced a certain Javanese cultivation
called "BATARA KARANG". These Shamans originate from West Jawa
until today I was informed that there is still quite a number of
such Shamans residing there. These Shamans at their time of
death, does not repent and discard their cultivation are
actually transformed into a shrunken mummy, their body does not
decomposed but continue to dehydrate then gradually shrunk into
smaller size about 20cm to 12cm.
Based on another account because of their cultivation they become
an immortal and their body is fossilized to preserve their body.
My informer told me that it's actually alive, on several occasion
he was aware that the limbs can contort and change position.

Based on my informer information, it is
also called "Jenglot". Practitioners of the occult keep it for
wealth and invulnerability, it consumes blood. From the picture
you can see that it looks hideous. I had seen one kept by my
informer he claimed that the hair actually grows several inches a
year. Guess how he managed to fed it. Human blood, taken from his
clients that come to seek alternative health care treatment. He
actually practiced a traditional health care treatment of blood
letting, which is believed to be beneficial to health as toxics
are drained out of the body. The surplus of blood is offered, but
what defy our rationality is the blood is actually sucked dry when
the "Jenglot" is place near the bottle of blood! No matter how
much blood is offered it will just diminished within minutes.
No matter how tempting the material
gains that he may possess with their assistance it is best to
avoid having one. What would happen if one day he runs out of
blood supply?

Strange Days
JAVANESE MUMMIES
Four small
mummies were on display at the Plaza Sentra Buana in central
Jakarta, Indonesia, in September 1997. Their owner, Hendra
Hartanto, said he obtained them from a group of psychics who
found them on Ngliyep beach, Wlingi in East Java in 1972. They
were found at different times in the same year, he said. He
named them Jenglot, Betoro Katon, Begawan Kapiwiro and Bagawan
Kapawiro, and claimed that the grey-bearded Jenglot, 6in (15cm)
long, was 3,000 years old.
On 22 September, he took Jenglot to the Cipto Mangunkusumo
General Hospital to have it examined, but the doctors there
refused, saying that the owner should go through "normal
procedures". "Yes, we're interested to find out what creature it
is," said Hemansyur, the hospital's vice director, "but I can
only say that it's not a living creature. It's dead." He said
the creature would probably be sent to the radiology unit for
examination.
Earlier press reports, quoting the owner, suggested that Jenglot
was alive and consumed human blood. Abas Sugiyono, one of the
psychics who found the mummies in 1972, said they were only
alive "in spirit" and that Jenglot's beard and nails had grown
while the mummy had shrunk. He recalled that when the mummies
were first found, they were 10in (25cm) long. Each mummy had
been sustained by 1cc of O-type human blood every 35 days, which
the owner bought from the Indonesian Red Cross. "We don't feed
them, but simply open the cap of the specimen bottle when the
time comes," said Abas. "Their spirits will take the blood
concentrate."
There was some commotion at the hospital when Jenglot was
brought in. Wiyono, a hospital security officer, said he didn't
believe that such a creature existed. "First I thought it was a
bird or a bat," he said. "But it had a pair of fangs and smelled
strange, like a dead body."

Santau –
The use of Poison as a form of Sorcery
In South East Asia poison is
also used as a form of sorcery to kill or injure. It is well known
as "Santau" in Indonesia. I had asked some traditional healers
about this subject and was told that Santau is actually a
concoction of deadly poison. The poison is actually extracted from
animals and plants. The only difference are the suffering
inflicted on the victim. Some victims suffer an immediate relapse
of the poison by displaying symptoms of profusely coughing with
small amount of blood, treatment need to be taken immediately.
However the victims do not
realized that they had been poisoned until these symptoms appears,
it would then be too late to undergo any treatment. From the
information given to me there are actually comprises of three
groups of materials to make this deadly concoctions:
a)
The first group is usually poisons extracted from animal
and plants.
Lipophilic
alkaloids Extracted from Frogs

P.aurotaenia
P. terribilis
P. bicolor
Kokoe Poison Frog
Golden Poison Frog Black-Legged Poison
Frog
The Dendrobatidae family includes 170 species spread
across 7 genera. There are many color variations and patterns both
within and across species. Most of them have aposematic coloring
to warn potential predators and all of them are vibrant and
eye-catching. Sizes range from 12mm (Dendrobates minutus)
to 60mm (Dendrobates auratus).

them have aposematic coloring to warn potential predators and all
of them are vibrant and eye-catching. Sizes range from 12mm (Dendrobates
minutus) to 60mm (Dendrobates auratus).
The
Dendrobatids are commonly called poison dart frogs, dart poison
frogs, or arrow poison frogs. This is because some species were
and are still used to poison the tips of blow-pipe arrows/darts.
Most of them favored the
use of Phyllobates aurotaenia, P. bicolor, and P.
terribilis. P. terribilis produces the most deadly
toxin of the three. The darts are wiped across the backs of live
specimens.
The method of poison extraction is done by capturing the frogs in
the woods, and confines them in a hollow bamboo, where they
regularly feed them until they need the poison, when they take one
of the unfortunate reptiles, and pass a pointed piece of wood down
his throat, and out one of his legs. This torture makes the poor
frog perspire very much, especially on the back, which becomes
covered with a white froth: this is the most powerful poison that
he yields, and in this they dip or roll the points of their
arrows, which will preserve their destructive power for a year.
Afterwards, below this white substance, appears a yellow oil,
which is carefully scraped off, and retains its deadly influence
for four to six months, according to the goodness (as they say) of
the frog. By this means, from one frog sufficient poison is
obtained for about fifty arrows.... A tiger when hit, runs ten or
a dozen yards, staggers, becomes sick, and dies in four or five
minutes. A bird is killed as with a bullet; and the arrow and
wounded part of the flesh being cut out, the reminder is eaten
without danger.
This is the same way the poison is extracted and included as one
of the ingredient in the Santau.
The toxins are lipophilic alkaloids. The structures are based upon
a piperidine ring, a six membered ring composed of five carbons
and one nitrogen.
Pumiliotoxins are found in
Dendrobates and Phyllobates. They are an
alkaloid family that contain over 80 members and can be
subdivided into pumiliotoxin A, B, and C. Pumiliotoxin A and B
are more potent than C. Small doses cause hyperactivity and
difficulties in locomotion and hypersensitivity to stimuli.
Injections of 100mg of the former two into a mouse causes
locomotion difficulties, partial paralysis of the hind limbs,
salivation, extensor movements, clonic convulsions, and death
in fewer than 10mins. Injections of 20mg of pumiliotoxin B
caused death in less than 20 mins (Patocka et. al. 1999).
Pumiliotoxin is more toxic than decahydroquinolines,
pyrrolizidines, indolizidines, quinolizidines, lehmizidines,
and histrionicotoxins. It works on voltage-dependent sodium
channels in the heart or other muscle and forces the release
of intracellular calcium ion stores. The muscle contracts for
a prolonged time because pumiliotoxin also hinders
re-accumulation of calcium ions. Pumiliotoxins are 100 to 1000
times less potent than batrachotoxins. |

Batrachotoxins are found
only in Phyllobates. A wild-caught, adult specimen of
P. terribilis may contain 700 to 1900µg (usually
1100µg) of batrachotoxin and homobatrachotoxin. LD50
of batrachotoxin in mice (subcutaneous injection) is 0.2µg/kg
and minimal lethal doses range from 0.01 to 0.02 µg/kg.
Homobatrachotoxin is lightly less toxic (0.04 to 0.06 µg/kg).
They work on voltage-dependent sodium channels and forces the
channels to remain open. The cell membrane becomes depolarized
after the high influx of sodium ions and render the
heart/muscle tissue useless. The victim may experience strong
muscle contractions, violent convulsions, salivation, and
labored breathing. Heart arrhythmia, fibrillation, and
ultimately, failure may result at high doses. One gram of
batrachotoxin can kill 1000 full grown humans. Because it is
so potent, one wonders how the South American natives can use
the skin secretions of the most toxic frogs to kill their own
food and still be alive and faring well after dinner. The
answer is that the oral potency of batrachotoxin is much, much
lower. The tiny, ingested amount of toxin may be denatured
during cooking and the metabolites are not poisonous. |

|
Histrionicotoxins prevents
action potentials jumping from nerves to muscle cells by
blocking acetylcholine and end-plate receptors. They also work
on potassium channels and force them to remain in an open or
closed state. As a result, action potentials are prolonged and
lengthen the time of muscle contractions. |
|
Epibatidine has a similar structure to nicotine. At high doses, it
depolarizes ganglionic nicotinic receptors. It is naturally found
with histrionicotoxins promoting their activity.
Spiropyrrolizidine oxime works by strongly blocking nicotinic
receptors, especially at ganglionic subtypes.
Scolopendra
gigantea
Acetylcholine,
Histamine, and Serotonin)
extracted from Centipede
Scolopendra gigantea,
commonly identified as the ‘Peruvian giant yellowleg centipede’

The body consists of 21-23 segments which are coppery red or
maroon in color and comprises up to 23 pairs of yellow-tinted legs
(with one pair per body segment); the legs are adapted for fast
walking (even running) and for grasping the prey tightly before
poisoning and killing it.
The centipede has modified claws called forcipules which curve
around its head and can deliver venom into its prey to assist in
immobilizing it. The venom is toxic to humans; (the poison
contains acetylcholine, histamine, and serotonin) and causes a
local sharp pain (similar to a hornet-sting), and severe swelling,
chills, fever (up to 39º), and weakness. The centipede is
captured, pounded and grinded into powder forms; depending on the
toxicity of the Santau some practitioners include more than 1000
centipedes.
Calloselasma
rhodostoma (Malayan Pit Viper)
Hemotoxic
extracted from Malayan Pit Viper

Calloselasma
rhodostoma
(Malayan pit viper) is a reddish
running into pink tinge toward the belly with triangular-shaped,
brown markings bordered with light-colored scales. The base of the
triangular-shaped markings end at the midline. It has dark brown,
arrow-shaped markings on the top and each side of its head.
This snake has long fangs, is ill-tempered, and is responsible for
many bites. Its venom is hemotoxic, destroying blood cells and
tissue. The practitioners of “Santau” extract the venom from the
pit viper as one of the major components of poison to be included
in the Santau.
King
cobra (Ophiophagus
hannah)
Neurotoxins
extracted from King Cobra

The king cobra (Ophiophagus hannah) is the longest of the
venomous land snakes, growing up to 18.5 feet (5.7 meters) in
length. The snake's venom is a neurotoxin which has been known to
kill many a human being.
The King Cobra is mainly found
is Asia, you can find it in clearings, amongst bamboo thickets and
in the borders of the forest. In Northern India, the cobra can be
found in forest, and up into the foothills of the Himalayas.
Cobras can climb trees with ease, but will rarely do so unless
chasing his next meal. Cobras can also be found on farmland and in
outlying parts of villages. As forest is cleaned, Cobra is
increasingly encountered by humans.
Its venom can stun your nervous system and stop your breathing.
Within minutes, neurotoxins stun the prey’s nervous system,
especially the impulses for breathing. Other toxins start
digesting the paralyzed victim.
Drop
for drop, a king cobra’s venom is actually less lethal than a
common cobra’s. The king more than makes up for it by delivering
more venom per bite as much as .2 fluid ounces (7 milliliters) of
liquid.
That’s enough to kill an elephant, or 20 people.
Jelly
Fish (Chrysaora
quinquecirrha)
Toxins
extracted from Jelly Fish
Most jellyfish have tentacles or oral arms coated with thousands of
microscopic nematocysts; generally, each of these nematocyst has a
"trigger" (cnidocil) paired with a capsule containing a coiled
stinging filament, as well as barbs on the exterior. Upon contact,
the filament will swiftly unwind, launch into the target, and
inject toxins. Serious stings may cause anaphylaxis and eventual
paralyzation, and hence people stung by jellyfish must get out of
the water to avoid drowning. In these serious cases, advanced
professional care must be sought. This care may include
administration of an antivenin and other supportive care such as
required to treat the symptoms of anaphylactic shock.
Practitioners of Santau extract the toxins from the jelly fish and
include it as another major ingredient.
Ipoh Tree (Antiaris
Toxicaria)
Poison sap

The
poison is prepared from the sap of the IPOH tree, ANTIARIS
TOXICARIA. The milky sap runs out when the bark is incised, and
is collected in a bamboo cup. It is then heated slowly over a
fire in a trough made from the leaf stem of a palm, until it
becomes a thick paste of dark purple brown color. The poisonous
sap is to be added into the deadly Santau concoction.
b) The second group is usually materials that can cause
irritations or allergy. Part of these materials are:
Shaven bamboo shoots, shaven
cane, etc that may cause contact allergy or irritations and
saddleback caterpillar.
c)
The third group is materials that can cause lesion.
Comprises of:
Pulverized glass, eggs shell,
Strands of silk, Copper brush strands, fingernails of animals or
humans, cockroach wings, centipede and etc…
The three groups of these
materials are gathered and then mixed together for 40 days. Some
practitioners will invoke genie, demons, or evil spirits to
empower the Santau. An offering of the following are given:
i) A Chicken is slaughtered,
only the right side of the chicken is roasted while the left is
raw. The feathers, intestine and internal organs are left intact.
ii) Areca nuts, betels,
gambir and kapur(lime-paste).
iii) Eggs
iv) Yellow stained glutinous
rice.
When all the materials are
gathered a pair of white candle is lighted before the offering and
the Santau which is now placed into a pot or utensils covered with
black clothes are placed together with the offerings. The
practitioner will then recite the following incantations:
Hai jin si hantu raya,
Jin kuning
jin putih,
Hantu raya si jembalang
air,
Mari sini datang ke mari,
Datang ke mari aku perjamu,
Hantu raya jembalang angin,
Aku tau asal engkau,
Engkau bulu hidung Nabi Adam,
Makanan engkau telur ayam,
Marilah kesini,
Makan benda benda ini,
Hantu raya jembalang kuning
Mari bersahabat bersama aku,
Mari datang menjadi diriku,
Datang taat turut perintahku,
Hantu raya jembalang kuning,
Merupa engkau datang padaku,
Jangan engkau ingkar juga,
Jangan engkau langgar perintahku,
Jika engkau ingkar juga,
Aku panah engkau,
Dengan panah berpanah,
Panah sakti, Panah rajuna, Hup…
When the last words “Hup” is
recited the practitioner clap both hands while closing his eyes he
says, “Hei, jin hantu raya. Apabila engkau sudah makan, kau
tunjukan tanda”. This translated as “Hey, genie when you finish
eating, show me a sign”.
In a short while some strange
sign will appear, like there will be a sudden chill, a strong wind
current that appears, or the candles are blow off then reignited
by itself. These are the signs the genie had taken its sacrifice.
The practitioner will then recite further incantations to empower
the Santau.
Once it’s completed it will be
placed in a hidden safe place away from their home. When they need
to use it they will just take a small amount and surreptiously
placed into the victim food or drinks.
There are several ways to
detoxify or get rid of Santau, from the victim, my informer told
me depending on the types of Santau there are a few ways of curing
or extracting out these stuff.
To be continued...
